My love for Sailor Dresses

Yacht Clubbing at the East Haven

My current hometown lies upon a river, so I’m used to chill at the waterside after work, boat racing events in the summer and the sound of boat horns in the middle of the night. I love taking rides on the boats along the river into the countryside around my hometown.

Therefore, I’m thinking about wearing sailor dresses a lot of the time. I want to show you some of the dresses you will find in my wardrobe.

Anchors Aweigh! – The Pussy Deluxe Sailor Dress

Feed the ducks with style. The Sailor Dress has a casual look, yet it is outstanding. The top part reminds of a classic maritime appearance with its white sewed on braid and the elastic band that you can bind into a bow.

The skirt feels light as the air and it swings with every step you take.

You can combine accessories of every colour; I chose to go with red this time.

Striking Stripes

The vintage inspired sailor pencil dress by Rock A bella has a casual black and white look, decorated with eye-catching details, like the golden, nautical buttons. I was glad that the dress has long sleeves and pockets – YES, POCKETS! Moreover, the cotton fabric is very soft – it almost feels like the dress is hugging your body. You see, a sailor dress doesn’t have to be a light summer dress.

Remembering Paris

I already wrote a blogpost about this dress during my time in Paris last summer (check it out here). The Sailor Dress by Hearts & Roses is a classical swing dress that you can combine with a fluffy petticoat, if you like. If you don’t own a petticoat or if the weather is too hot, you can skip the underskirt easily, because the dress comes with a sewed on black underskirt in tulle. With its neckholder straps and its swinging skirt, this dress is the perfect companion for a classy boat ride.

In my opinion, sailor dresses can come in many shapes and colours, but they all have one thing in common. They’re accessorized with maritime details that catch the eye – like motives of anchors or steering wheels, white bands that remind of  sailor’s yarn and stripes, stripes stripes! These details can make the dresses special and unique.

The sailor look is a classic vintage look that can be worn to almost every occasion. With this in mind, let’s set the sails and enjoy the ride!

Die Wandelbarkeit des Sailor Stils

DSCF7891

Erinnerungen an Paris
