Finding Wonderland at the Madonna Inn
When I planned my California road trip, I wanted to make sure that I bring back many beautiful memories. And because I like capturing my favorite moments in pictures, I decided to organize a few photo shootings along the west coast.
I first noticed the wonderful hotel called ‘Madonna Inn’ on the Instagram feed of The Pink Collar Life. I’m a big fan and follower of Tara MiSioux and Ashlyn Coco and I love to immerse into their world of vintage glamour. I even got the chance to meet the lovely girls in person at the Viva Las Vegas earlier this year.

When my friend Djamila and I arrived at the Madonna Inn, it was the middle of the night. I remember being awfully sick at the time and I was really exhausted from the road trip. I was thinking about cancelling the photo shooting for the next day but I’m glad that I changed my mind. I knew that I wouldn’t get another chance to capture the beauty of this wonderland together with a very talented photographer and so, I sucked it up and went to work. After a good night’s sleep in the most comfortable beds on our road, Djamila helped me to get ready for the photo shooting (thank you!).
Leticia Prado, alias Lill Miss Vicious Photography, came all the way from LA to work with us and I liked her from the very second she walked into the hotel room. Every room at the Madonna Inn has a particular theme and ours happened to be a captain’s cabin.
We started taking photos on the rustic bed and on the Chippendale sofa. Leticia brought some dreamy vintage dresses full of sequins and glitter. I felt noble and elegant and I immediately forgot about being ill.
Besides the glamorous robes, Leticia also provided two big feather fans. Handling these is more complicated that it looks :D
After the check-out, we walked around the hotel and we found another great photo location – a secret garden. I had a lot of fun twirling around in the airy vintage dress, which made me feel like a fairy. The headdress was provided by my dear friend Antia: Die Hutmacherin.
Bottom line: If you’re in California, make a stop at the Madonna Inn. You’ll be amazed by the glamorous interior, the fancy hotel rooms and the delicious cake (according to me fellow girls – I had to skip the cake because they had no vegan slices).

Rina im Wunderland – Ein Tag im Madonna Inn
Als ich meinen diesjährigen Roadtrip durch Kalifornien plante, wollte ich viele schöne Erinnerungen mit nach Hause nehmen. Und da ich bereits viele unvergessliche Momente in meinem Leben in meinen Bildern festhalten konnte, organisierte ich einige Fotoshootings entlang der Westküste.
Die ersten Bilder des Madonna Inn Hotels sah ich auf der Instagram-Seite von The Pink Collar Life. Ich bin ein großer Fan von Tara MiSioux, Ashlyn Coco und ihrer glamourösen Vintage-Welt. Ich hatte sogar die Gelegenheit, die Mädels auf dem Viva Las Vegas zu treffen. Die Beiden wirkten sehr sympathisch und liebenswert. Sie machten Fotos und unterhielten sich mit jedem Besucher auf dem Pink Collar Ball.

Als meine Wegbegleiterin und Freundin Djamila und ich um Mitternacht auf das Gelände des Madonna Inn einbogen, war ich bereits geplättet von der Eleganz und dem Charme des Hotels. Ich erinnere mich daran, dass ich eine fette Erkältung mit mir herumschleppte und von der Fahrt sehr erschöpft war. Doch die kuscheligen Betten des Madonna Inns (die bequemsten auf der ganzen Route!) bescherten mir meine erste schlaflose Nacht seit der Ankunft in den USA. Am nächsten Tag fühlte ich mich sofort besser und war bereit für mein Fotoshooting mit Leticia Prado, alias Lill Miss Vicious Photography. An dieser Stelle möchte ich mich bei Djamila für das tolle Styling bedanken!
Leticia kam den weiten Weg von LA um mit uns zu arbeiten und ich schloss sie von der ersten Sekunde, als sie das Hotelzimmer betrat, ins Herz.
Die Hotelzimmer des Madonna Inn haben unterschiedliche Themen; von der Steinzeit-Höhle bis hin zum Viktorianischen Garten-Zimmer ist alles dabei. Unser Zimmer glich einer Kapitäns-Kajüte. Das rustikale Himmelbett und das Chippendale Sofa boten einzigartige Kulissen für unser Fotoshooting. Leticia brachte ein paar glamouröse Vintage-Kleider mit, die meine Augen zum Leuchten brachten. Sie hatte außerdem zwei große Federfächer mitgebracht, die eine tolle Requisite darstellen, aber gar nicht so einfach zu handhaben sind. Während des Shootings vergaß ich meine Abgeschlagenheit und ich war einfach glücklich, den Tag mit zwei tollen Ladies an einem wunderbaren Ort zu verbringen.
Nach dem Check-Out schossen wir noch ein paar Fotos im „Secret Garden“, bevor ein Unwetter über uns herzog.

Mein Fazit: Solltet ihr in Kalifornien sein, plant auf jeden Fall eine Nacht im Madonna Inn ein. Die Kulisse, das Interieur und der Kuchen sind unvergesslich.
