The Metallic Look is back

Sometimes, I feel like I’m magically drawn to shiny objects. These objects of desire can be sparkling pieces of jewellery, glittering eyeshadows or glossy textiles – fabrics that reflect the sunlight beautifully and make you glow.
Recently, I topped up my wardrobe with shiny fabrics and I love to wear them, especially to a special occasion. And if you believe the many fashion-blogs out there, the shiny Metallic-Look celebrates its revival this summer.
When I think of glossy fabrics and glittery accessories the flashy Disco-Look springs to my mind. This look may be retro but it’s not for me. So, how can you merge the metallic fashion trend with a more subtle vintage look?
Let me show you five versions of the Metallic-Look emerging right from my wardrobe:
1) The Downtown Dames Dress by Deadly Dames
This was my first dress covering the Metallic-Look and moreover, this was the first dress that I ordered from the US. I fell in love with this one when I browsed through the online shop of Pinup Girl Clothing and I bought it without hesitation. It fits like a glove and it stays put due to the incorporated metal rods in the upper part of the dress. These rods might not be everyone’s cup of tea but I like it when a dress feels tight and secure. This dress is a real eye-catcher and I received a lot of compliments on this one. I combined the dress with my black Mary Janes and some simple looking ear studs. I think that there’s no additional jewellery needed since the dress is shining on its own. A true treasure! 2) The Harlow Dress by Unique Vintage
If you want to wear an elegant evening gown I recommend the Harlow Dress. With its 40’s look, the dress seems to come straight out of the Casablanca movie. I wore this dress in the casinos of Las Vegas and it fit the scenery perfectly. The shimmering fabric seems to flow but it also hugs the body curves. I choose to wear my crystal earrings by Glitter Paradise and a beautiful hair ornament provided by Antia – Die Hutmacherin. A big thank you goes to my dear friend Angi from Fraeulein Backfisch who provided this gorgeous dress for my trip to Las Vegas. 3) Metallic Vintage Lingerie by Dollhouse Bettie
I saw this lingerie set in a showcase in San Francisco and it stole my heart immediately. The authentic cut and the application of black lace let the set appear very elegant.

Unfortunately, this set isn’t available anymore in the Dollhouse Bettie online shop but you’ll find similar models that match the Metallic-Look.
4) An American Beauty – The Ava Dress by Pinup Couture
I ordered my one and only wiggle dress at Pinup Girl Clothing. It caught my eye a while ago and I took my chances when the dress hit the sale section in the online shop. This purchase was a lucky one and the Ava dress became one of my favorite dresses. The wiggle dress generated my enthusiasm for the color purple. At first, I wasn’t sure if the color of the dress would match my hair color, but in fact, the two shades go along very well. 5) Dazzling Playsuits
The Metallic-Look may be a loud look on its own, but you can even top this by choosing a metallic bodysuit. A clothing item that I wore to many photo shooting and on stage (take a look here) is this golden playsuit which I purchased at Ebay a while ago.

Die Rückkehr des Metallic Look

Manchmal fühle ich mich wie eine diebische Elster, die magisch von glänzenden Objekten angezogen wird. Das können funkelnde Schmuckstücke, ein glitzernder Lidschatten oder glänzende Stoffe sein – Stoffe, die das Sonnenlicht herrlich reflektieren und den Träger oder die Trägerin selbst zum Leuchten bringen.
In der letzten Zeit habe ich meine Garderobe mit solchen Stoffen angereichert und trage diese immer wieder gerne, gerade zu besonderen Anlässen. Und glaubt man zahlreichen Fashion-Blogs, scheint der Metallic Look in diesem Sommer sein Revival zu feiern.
Wenn ich an glänzende Stoffe und glitzernde Accessoires denke, fällt mir zunächst der Disco-Look ein, der zwar eindeutig retro, aber nicht wirklich mein Stil ist. Wie kann man also den metallischen Modetrend mit einem subtilen Vintage-Touch vereinen?
Hier stelle ich euch fünf Varianten des Metallic-Looks aus meinem Kleiderschrank vor:
1) Das Downtown Dames Kleid von Deadly Dames
Mein erstes Kleid im Metallic-Look und außerdem mein erstes Kleid, das ich aus den USA importiert habe, ist das Dowtown Dames Kleid. Im Onlineshop von Pinup Girl Clothing habe ich mich in dieses Kleid verliebt und es ohne zu zögern bestellt. Es passt wie angegossen und liefert zuverlässigen Halt durch eingearbeitete Metall-Stäbe im Oberteil. Das mag nicht jedermanns Sache sein, aber für mich darf ein Kleid gerne ein wenig enger, dafür aber sicher sitzen. Das Kleid ist ein echter Eye-Catcher, und wann immer ich es getragen habe, habe ich zahlreiche Komplimente bekommen. Kombiniert habe ich das Kleid mit einfachen schwarzen Mary Janes und schlichten Ohrsteckern. Meiner Meinung nach ist kein weiterer Schmuck nötig, denn das Kleid strahlt von alleine. Eine klare Kaufempfehlung!

2) Das Harlow Kleid von Unique Vintage
Wenn es etwas edler sein darf, ist das Harlow-Abendkleid im Casablanca-Stil das Kleid der Wahl. Ich habe es in den Casinos von Las Vegas getragen und es passte perfekt in das dortige Geschehen hinein. Der leicht reflektierende Stoff ist fließend und fühlt sich leicht auf der Haut an. Das Abendkleid schwingt bei jedem Schritt und liegt dennoch eng am Körper – umschmeichelt ihn regelrecht. Auch hier reichen schlichte Accessoires, die nicht von dem schimmernden Kleid ablenken. Ein schöner Haarschmuck unterstreicht dabei den Stil der 40er Jahre, den das Harlow Kleid verkörpert. Ein besonderer Dank geht an dieser Stelle an meine liebe Freundin Angi von Fräulein Backfisch, die mir dieses eindrucksvolle Kleid für meine Reise nach Las Vegas zur Verfügung gestellt hat.

3) Vintage Lingerie im Metalloc-Look von Dollhouse Bettie
In einem Schaufenster in San Francisco hat dieses Wäsche-Set auf mich gewartet. Dieses authentische geschnittene Set aus schimmernder Seide trägt schwarze Spitzen-Applikationen und wirkt sehr edel.

Leider gibt es dieses Set nicht mehr im Dollhouse Bettie Onlineshop, doch es gibt ähnliche Modelle, die ebenfalls in die Rubrik Metallic-Look passen:
4) Eine amerikanische Schönheit – Das Ava Kleid von Pinup Couture
Mein erstes und einziges Wickel-Kleid kommt aus dem Hause Pinup Girl Clothing. Ich hatte schon vor einiger Zeit ein Auge auf dieses glänzende Kleid geworfen und meine Chance ergriffen, als es im Frühjahr im Sale gelandet war. Der Kauf war definitiv die richtige Entscheidung und das Kleid seither eines meiner Lieblingsstücke. Das Ava Kleid hat meine Begeisterung für die Farbe Lila geweckt. Zunächst fürchtete ich, dass sich die Farbe des Kleides mit meiner roten Haarfarbe beißen könnte, jedoch harmonieren beide Farbtöne wunderbar. Die Wickel-Optik des Kleides lässt den Stoff fließend wirken und unterstreicht die Sanduhr-Figur, wie es sich für ein Vintage Kleid gehört.

5) Blendende Bodysuits
Der Metallic-Look alleine mag in mancher Hinsicht bereits ein gewagter Look sein, doch man kann noch einen draufsetzen, indem man einen Bodysuit im glänzenden Stil wählt. Ein Kleidungsstück, das ich bereits zu vielen Fotoshootings und auf der Bühne getragen habe (hier ist der Beweis), ist dieser goldene Anzug, den ich vor einiger Zeit auf Ebay ersteigert habe.
